Pair of Antique Italian Carved Lion Head Sculptures mounted on modern circular ebonized wooden bases. Dating back to late 17th century, in good age related condition. Both lion figures have idealized appearance, are carved in the form of a bust, with tongue sticking out and a thick mane, almost a hairstyle that completely covers the neck.
This pair of antique animal sculptures have a superlative dark patina and show lovely original fine gold traces in the deep carving of the lion’s mane.
Standing on modern turned and ebonized circular bases measuring 7 cm height and 16 cm diameter.
