Set of Twenty Italian Portraits of Musical Composers by Cartone Aurelio 1935
A unique collection of 20 oil on canvas portraits of the greatest European classical music composers, such as Bach, Brahms, Haydn, Gluck, Schumann, Schubert, Dvorak, Mendelssohn, Wagner, Monteverdi, Puccini, Rossini.
This set of twenty Italian paintings all depicting greatest European classical music composers are signed by the Italian painter Aurelio Cartone, Milano 1910-1969 and are dated from 1932 up to 1935.
The Milanese painter Aurelio Cartone was best known as a portrait artist (Benito Mussolini, Pope Paolo VI, Elettra Marconi, Cardinal Caccia Dominioni, Countess Donà dalle Rose) and for his “portraits” of cities (Rome, Milan, his native city, and above all the little towns along the Ligurian Riviera such as Camogli, Santa Margherita, and Portofino).
This collection is a must-have for music lovers.
Canvas and ebonized Guilloché frames are made by Casa d’Arte Viganò di corso Magenta and by Fabbrica Cornici Pandini in via S.M. del Carso both located in Milano, have different sizes as indicated in listed pictures:
