Pair of 19th century Italian Neoclassic silver candlesticks, chiseled with geometrical motifs and acanthus leaves patterns. Hallmarked Milan, 1820 by Liverti Francesco silver maker, a circular foot engraved with leafy and geometric edges. The two antique candle holders come from the furnishings of a Lombard villa on Como lake, where they were fitted as lamps, as shown the small hole on the edge of the base of each item.On the bases they are hallmarked with the plow related to the silver title (800/000), the globe with the seven trionos related to the Guarantee Office of Milan from 1812-1872 and the silver maker mark relative to Francesco Liverti active in Milan until 1820.On the bases they are hallmarked with the plow related to the silver title (800/000), the globe with the seven trionos related to the Guarantee Office of Milan from 1812-1872 and the silver maker mark relative to Francesco Liverti active in Milan until 1820. Neoclassical motif on edge of base of each candlestick is repeated on bottom of the fluted tapered column of each, under each candle cup. The base of each column is finely decorated with flowers and grape branches. Minor wear near the candle cup, base and column consistent with use, age and early 19th century dating. The candlesticks weigh 276 grams and 291 grams, respectively.

Francesco Liverti died in 1820 and the business was then continued by his widow until 1828.
