An Italian oil on canvas genre painting dating back to mid-19th century, after Volterrano’s famous the Prank of Pievano Arlotto, a 17th century famous painting exposed in Palazzo Pitti Florence, by Baldassare Franceschini, (Volterra 1611-Florence 1698), known as Il Volterrano after his native town of Volterra, was a highly prolific Tuscan painter active in Florence.
The composition depicts a crowded banquet and a joke between guests with ecclesiastical robes a lively banquet with many guests and a caste in the background.
In good condition, framed with original carved giltwood frame. Signed with a red monogram lower left E.T.
