A mid-20th century Italian pietra dura inlaid plaque, a Florentine commesso depicting an Italian street with landscape, in good condition dating to 1950 circa.
This Italian artwork is a mosaic panel, with marquetry technique which uses highly polished, hand-cut colored semiprecious stones, which are inlay-ed with one another to create a gorgeous picture, using the natural colours of the different stones and marbles. The stones used are exceptionally polished and include Siena marble, Bardiglio green marble, Verona red marble, paesina and many other stones.
This inlaid plaque is unframed and comes from a private collection of Milan.
