A set of three 18th century Louis XV carved and giltwood altar cards or “cantagloria” from Emilia Romagna, an Italian region.
This gilded frames were originally placed on the altar only during Mass and contain prayers that the priest should recite during the Mass.
This set of three frames contains a (glued) lyturgical inscription on paper and has a floral and vegetal scrolling carving with a superb gold leaf gilding. Minor gilding losses and restoration consistent with use and age.
The bigger one measures 13 height by 15,75 inches and the small ones measure 14,18 by 8,27 inches.
