Pair of 19th Century Italian Gilded Capitals with Corinthian-Ionic Carving
2.300,00€
Pair of 1800s gilded capitals carved from poplar wood, originally part of a larger decorative complex. Composite, Ionic, and Corinthian in style, they feature carved flowers beneath the abacus in the Ionic volutes, while the Corinthian section has well-defined tendrils. They are gilded with fine gold leaf on an ochre bolus base. In good condition, they show minimal wear consistent with their age and the marks of the nail heads that secured them to the structure behind them. Italy, 1800. This rare pair of antique gilded capitals would be very useful in a renovation, but they are so classic that they could also simply be placed on the shelves of a bookcase. To hang them on the wall as wall decorations or as bases for wall lampshades/sconces, hooks would need to be added.
They come from a private Italian residence.
