A stunning hand-coloured engraving, depicts a frontal view of the spectacular Gothic cathedral or Duomo in Milan, the largest church in Italy and the fifth largest in the world. Brightly dressed figures traverse the square in front. The colourist has deftly painted shadows and gradations of colour. Italian antique etching antique copperplate engraving on paper depicting the Piazza del Duomo Cathedral Square view dominated by the famous Gothic Milan Cathedral, the Duomo. The plate shows a 19th century square cathedral view crowded by figures. The etching dates back to circa 1830. Set within a passe-partout and cherry frame decorated by bronze rosettes in each corner. Good age related condition, general age-related toning, wear consistent with age and use.
