A Napoleon III French Table Clock with twist columns
1.500,00€
A handsome and elegant tall table/mantle clock, it’s ebony black and gilded design is very specific to it’s time period (the end of the Napoleon III period, 1870-1880). It’s origin is from Paris.
The wooden case has delicate scrolling medallions of inlaid wooden arabesque patterns on the bottom, top and crown panels. There are four handsome columns in the barley twist form. They have a base and crown of gilded metal. There is a decorative wooden molding just above the bottom inlay panel, in a wide rib pattern with mitered corners. This molding is repeated between the two top inlay panels.
The face is of porcelain, with winding mechanisms for the alarm and movement. There are Roman numerals.
We sell this clock as a decorative piece, not a time keeper. It is a fine and interesting antique French clock in a style not often seen.
