An impressive early 18th century polychrome decorated drug jar or Albarello, a Sicilian blue, yellow and polychrome majolica vase.
The Italian Albarello is of a typical waisted shape, and is decorated profusely in polychrome with a wonderful profile of a soldier contained within an elongated oval medallion. The body of the jar is decorated with stylized flowers and leaves painted in polychrome over a cobalt blue ground with white scrolls.
Good age related condition. No breaks or repairs. Condition is commensurate with age and usage.
