18th Century Italian Gilt Wood Table Bookstand with Foliate Carving made of linden wood, resting on four turned feet that support a rectangular base frame with a rack in the center to allow adjustment of the ‘inclination of the top. This Baroque gilded lectern is made with a frieze carved with original scrolls and foliate decoration and fully gilded with the non-relief parts chiseled with small circular motifs.
In good condition apart from minimal discoloration and minor gilding losses; probably the central support for the lectern tilt has been replaced. It is from the 18th century and comes from northern Italy.
