Antique Italian horizontal Frame carved lime wood with volutes of broad foliage; the depth of the pronounced volutes is typical of cartocci, ornamental motifs depicting crumpled leaves with rolled, curled tips. This 1600s Lombard Baroque frame was probably a frieze placed as a window frame for a reliquary. It was without a rebate; the present one has been restored. The gold leaf gilding has a red bole preparation and is in good condition apart from minor losses.
Rectangular in shape, this horizontal frame is hand-carved by deep volutes and deep foliate decorations, the flat parts around the opening have fine burinwork, star-shaped engravings. Inside it is centered by a shaped mirror. In good condition apart from minor repairs at the upper curls. Two small curls have been redone, as highlighted in the gallery in the back photo, and the tip of a scroll is missing at the right middle part. repairs consistent with a 17th-century date, it comes from a private collection.
