A 19th-century French centre writing-desk Louis XVI style, featuring four drawers on the front, one of which has a secret compartment, an internal lockable drawer, original embossed bronze escutcheons and working locks and keys. This elegant Louis XVI-style writing-desk is crafted from walnut with boxwood inlays, enhanced by a herringbone veneer that creates refined colour contrasts thanks to the alternating grain patterns. The interiors are in oak, and the drawers feature hand-crafted dovetail joints.

The top is rectangular in shape, covered in leather in a warm cream-beige colour, embossed with a gold fretwork pattern along the edges, within a wooden frame. It features two small side tops with bronze knobs, two practical pull-out shelves on each side, also covered in leather, which allow the work surface to be extended by 28 cm on each side.

This 19th-century French bureau plat rests on four slender truncated-pyramid legs ending in bronze feet, in typical Louis XVi style.
