Water Buffalo Oriental Wooden Sculpture With Horns 1800, antique and fascinating animal figure of Bubalus bubalis domestic water buffalo, an important symbolic and functional figure in Southeast Asian agriculture. Made of solid wood, this 19th-century Asian folk art piece stands out for its imposing dimensions, measuring 64 h. x 62 x 90 cm, resting on long legs and featuring a superb patina, the absence of a tail, signs of wear consistent with its late 1800s date, all elements that attest to its age and authenticity.
The work depicts a carved wooden buffalo in an upright position, with original horns and a bronze bell around its neck, symbolizing its importance in the rural environment. The animal sculpture rests on long legs, making it suitable for placement on a table or directly on the floor, adding a touch of decorative charm of Asian folk art. Good age related condition, It has been restored with minimal integration of the horns and their attachment, together with that of the legs and ears.
