Antique Brescian Embossed Silver Vase: Originally, this was the base of a thurible made of embossed, chiseled, and engraved silver. It features a classical, richly decorated architectural design. The upper rim is slightly flared and smooth. Just below runs a central band decorated in relief with a motif of plant and floral scrolls (a central corolla flanked by symmetrical leaves) on a punched or granulated background. On either side are two handles or attachment elements shaped like winged cherub heads, little angels, which were originally used to secure the suspension chains. The upper band is bordered at the bottom by a border featuring a braided or twisted motif.The body of the cup tapers downward and is lavishly decorated with embossed acanthus-leaf scrolls, alternating with stylized geometric or floral elements typical of the Baroque or Neoclassical repertoire. The transition to the foot is marked by a short shaft with a knurled molding. The base is circular and flared, decorated at the top by a wreath of stylized foliage or radial acanthus leaves. The lower rim is flat and smooth. Three hallmarks are found on the rim; the globe with seven trions indicating the second silver fineness, 800\/000, the spearhead identifying the Brescia Assay Office between 1812 and 1872, and finally the silversmith\u2019s mark,unidentifiable.
