Antique Italian horizontal Frame carved lime wood with volutes of broad foliage; the depth of the pronounced volutes is typical of cartocci, ornamental motifs depicting crumpled leaves with rolled, curled tips. This 1600s Lombard Baroque frame was probably a frieze placed as a window frame for a reliquary. It was without a rebate; the present one has been restored. The gold leaf gilding has a red bole preparation and is in good condition apart from minor losses.<\/p>\n
Rectangular in shape, this horizontal frame is hand-carved by deep volutes and deep foliate decorations, the flat parts around the opening have fine burinwork, star-shaped engravings. Inside it is centered by a shaped mirror. In good condition apart from minor repairs at the upper curls.
