A 19th century Georgian vermeil cased set of \u00a0sugar vase with \u00a0cover, spoons and pin. \u00a0 \u00a0Extraordinary and richly gilt, heavy cast, embossed featuring foliate scrolls, \u00a0leaves and flowers\u00a0around four cartouches centered by shells.<\/p>\n
This antique \u00a0sugar covered vase, has a circular baluster form The cover surmounted by a cast flower finial.<\/p>\n
The exquisite artwork \u00a0is enriched by engraved and chiseled ornamentation, a continuous alternation of shadows and lights, of smooth, shiny surfaces and matt \u00a0chiseled surfaces.<\/p>\n

1836 London<\/strong>, with maker’s mark for Richard William Atkins & William Nathaniel Somersell<\/strong> active from\u00a01827 and 1836. The covered sugar bowl\u00a0weighs 556 grams and measures 16,5 cm -height- \u00a0by 12,5 cm.<\/p>\n Pin and spoons are characterized by\u00a0cast grapevine on scrolling leaves, weigh 288 grams, \u00a01820 London<\/strong>, with maker’s mark for\u00a0Edward Farrell \u00a0(1779 -1850) . <\/strong>Only one spoon has been realized in London a bit later 1827\/28.<\/p>\n The set is cased in an elegant, \u00a0octagonal mahogany box with lid, complete with working lock and brass handle with Tho.s Allen Poynder N. 6 \u00a0<\/em><\/strong>engraving.<\/p>\n Inside the lid we find the label Catchpole & Williams Silversmiths and Jewellers n. 120, Regent Street.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Thomas Henry Allen Poynder, owner of the famous Hartham Park estate, the Georgian villa in Wiltshire, England, near Corsham, from which the artifact supposedly originates.<\/p>\n The set comes from a private collection in Milan and is in good condition; we just repaired the lock of the mahogany case, made the key, repaired some veneer detachments and \u00a0polished the case.<\/p>\n The numbering engraved on the case may suggest that this set was aligned with teapots, coffee makers or tea caddies with which these elaborate accessories were generally created together.<\/p>\n Edward Farrell registered his first mark in London, 1813. \u00a0Silversmith and retailer for the Duke of York,\u00a0Farrell experimented unusual designs after the Renaissance and Baroque, as well as in the most popular Rococo revival.\u00a0The remarkable silver gilt candelabrum displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum and featuring Neptune riding a seahorse is a significant example of Farrell\u2019s creativity and skills.
