French\u00a0mid-19th Century Solid Walnut Louis XVI Style table, rectangular, two drawers on long sides, added later, this antique French table\u00a0stands on pyramidal legs and it is in overall good condition, with wear consistent with use and age.<\/p>\n
The top is formed by the junction of six walnut tables with a thickness of cm. 5.5. \u00a0Initials G B Z are stamped on a profile. The \u00a0top\u00a0can be placed just lean thanks to a joint, see listed pictures.<\/p>\n
It was the\u00a0table of a tailor’s atelier. We have acquired\u00a0it in a private house of Milan and the owner\u00a0told us the story of this antique piece. We would like to share with you….<\/p>\n
It belonged to a Sicilian\u00a0 man named Natale, \u00a0who came to Milan from Sicily on foot, after the first World War, \u00a0when he was 14\u00a0to learn a\u00a0job.
\nHe went to a tailor’s shop to work and one day, many years later, he opened his own \u00a0tailor’s atelier in via Verdi, in Milan, closed to Teatro la Scala.
\nNatale received this table by a\u00a0gentleman of French origin,\u00a0as payment, in exchange for a tailored suit for men! \u00a0Since that day the table has been in his atelier for 30 long years. Natale\u00a0had three daughters and one of these\u00a0was a friend of the lady who has sold us the table.
\nWhen she\u00a0saw this table\u00a0she\u00a0immediately fell in love with it, she\u00a0did not know if it was a piece of solid wood or its history:
\nThe unique interesting thing for her was its role in the atelier: it was a witness …… \u00a0the table on which a father has drawn, sewn, presented, adjusted, sold, made happy hundreds of people with their tailor-made new clothes, it seemed an important piece of history to continue to make living in a house\u00a0….<\/p>\n
