Pair of Italian Baroque Style Silvered Repousse Table Lamps Late 20th Century
A pair of 20th century Italian silvered repoussé copper table lamps, realized with handmade silvered repoussé copper plates, urn shaped, and finely embossed and chased with scrolling, geometrical and vegetal motifs, mounted on a shaped grey painted wooden panel, fitted as lamps and wired with one E27 light-bulb.
Listed measures below include lampshades realized with fan shaped demi-lune white pleated fabric. These original and very elegant lamps, are suitable as table lamps on a credenza or near a sofa or bed-side table lighting.
Good condition, in working order with new Italian standard wiring.
The repoussé silvered plates date back to late 20th century, are a unique hand-made work by an Italian traditional artisan of Ancona, a city in Marche region, Central Italy, Repoussé refers to a very ancient metalworking technique in which a malleable metal like copper is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. This ancient technique was used in central Italy to obtain prickets and altar ornamental vases to decorate churches, throughout the Italian Baroque period.
