Pair of 20th Century Hand-Made Terracotta Fruit Baskets From Tuscany
A charming pair of mid 20th century terracotta fruit and vegetable baskets, ideal as garden elements or indoors, as original centerpieces. These large terracotta sculptures, realized by the precious hands of a Tuscan artisan around 1970s, are extraordinary hand molded works which recreate woven baskets fruits and vegetables composition, the classical allegory of abundance and fertility.
Here we may find pomegranate, pears, fennel, peppers, chili, leeks, artichokes, zucchini, apples, tomatoes, pomegranate, pears, and other fruits, realistically reproduced by a Tuscan master craftsman.
They are almost a pair, one is a bit smaller but, once again, they are hand-made!
They both come from an Italian garden of a villa in Impruneta, Tuscany, and that is the cause of the ivory patina on the surface of both extraordinary baskets. Overall good conditions, wear consistent with use, minor losses and chips.
