Original lock, brass keyhole, missing key.
Elegant bone internal profiles.
English origin, it dates back to 1820 circa, in good age related condition. Old restoration on the back side.
Italian antique gilded Florentine box, octagonal shape realized in white walnut, engraved on each side and the top and with polychrome birds lacquered on the lid. The box dates back to the last quarter of 18th century, is in fair condition, with wear consistent with use and age. The original gold leaf gilding shows its three centuries of history, only a few traces of gilding remain on the lid whereas the red color of the Armenian bolus preparation is much more evident.
The box is hand realized with volutes and floral motif engravings.
The internal walnut edger has a minor loss but we could repair it. The lid is decorated with a double engraving on the profile that frames three birds and polychrome lacquered flowers.
Florence, Italy, last quarter of 1700s. A lovely antique Italian hand-made box for collectors.
