Italian 19th Century Ormolu Table Holy Water Font
From Italy a stunning gilt bronze holy water font dating back to the first half of 19th century. A religious ormolu group sculpture depicting an unusual composition: on a stepped rectangular base two cherubs holding an original shell surmounted by a winged angel holding a censer in his hand. on each side two saints resting on the base, one holding the key and the triple crown, the other a pyx and a book.
The composition of this ancient gilt bronze holy water font is well articulated and absolute unique, it comes from a private collection in Central Italy and dates back to the first half of the 19th century. It is in a good age related condition, with minimal worn gilding parts on the base.
