Italian 18th Century Louis XVI Marquetry Chest Of Drawers
A fine late 18th-century Louis XVI chest of drawers, an Italian marquetry commode veneered throughout in superlative timbers, including rosewood, fruitwood, boxwood, ebony. Three graduated long drawers, each with parquetry inlaid perimeters, veneered throughout in superlative timbers, including walnut, rosewood, maple, fruitwood, boxwood, ebony. Both sides, front and top are decorated with an upper band of inlaid festoons with bouquet of different flowers an with superlative fielded, figural and architectural panels, depicting a round medallion with birds on the top ; a muse with a lyre surrounded by an angel on the front and architectural elements are the inlaid motivs of the sides. This antique chest of drawers raised on tapering pyramidal inlaid feet, comes from a private Lombard collection and is in good age related condition, with signs of wear and use consistent with age.
