Frogs Playing Billiard Wunderkammer Curiosities
Extraordinary set of five frogs playing billiard, a Northern Italian work realized at the beginning of 20th century, a rare curiosity for Wunderkammer collectors.
This realistic, creative and funny antique work of art is surely inspired to the François Perrier frogs collection in Estavayer-le-Lac, Switzerland. This official solders loved frogs and from 1848 to 1860, he collected and preserved 108 of them engaging in decidedly non-batrachian behavior, such as attending school, marching in formation and riding squirrels. They’re on display at the Frog Museum in Estavayer-le-Lac, Switzerland.
