Early 20th Century Romantic Italian Flowers Still Life on Canvas
Antique composition of flowers, Still Life with clear glass flower pot, oil on canvas painting dating back to the first decades of 1900s. The work is in fair condition, framed; it comes from a private Italian collection of Milan and depicts a vertical structure floral arrangement, a bouquet of cut flowers within a clear glass vase, placed on the top of a circular column.
This impressive bouquet of flowers is dominated by fluffy pink peonies in the foreground, with white lilacs by steep stems that protrude at the top as if to get out of the canvas, as well as by heavenly lilac, placed in the center and surrounded by striped carnations red, closed anemone buds, of multiple colors.
This floral triumph is an extremely romantic and meaningful painting. In the language of flowers, lilacs fact symbolize falling in love, feeling stressed even further by peonies, so-called roses without thorns, love’s synonymous and good luck flowers. Even the anemone, beautiful but ephemeral flower, lying on the table top of this work, evoking ephemeral feelings of abandonment, underlined feeling by the fallen petals on the floor that remind us of the close relationship between beauty and transience.

Edmund Pick-Morino still life of flowers, an oil on canvas painting signed lower right by the Austro Hungarian painter Edmund Pick-Morino (Vienna 1877-1958 Brussels). A very decorative and bright flowers painting of polychrome peonies, rose and red peonies arranged in a dark vase, and white flowers lying on the top. This beautiful flowers bouquet is portrayed with fast stretches, immediate strokes, it might seem a casual composition but it is wisely balanced, mixing polychrome elements, such as the white peony lying on the table on the left side. In good condition, this European first canvas painting measures 70h. x 60 cm without frame, dates back to early 20th century and it is set in an old gilt wood frame showing old signs of gilding restoration.
1877-1958 Born in Hungary, Pick-Morino was raised in Vienna and studied at the Akademie in Munich; he also studied in Paris and Florence (under Arnold Broecklin). In 1901 he moved to Paris, later moving to Baden and Vienna. He returned to Hungary but left in 1958, and resided until his death in Belgium. He was noted as an artist of impressionist inspiration, particularly for floral pieces.

The work comes from a private residence in Milan, is in very good condition, polished and lined, within a later giltwood carved and painted frame with plaster fruits decoration in relief, dating back to 19th century. Measuring 41 inches x 38″, the canvas – 50.5 inches by 39″ is the frame’s size.

This beautiful Italian 1700 oil on canvas still life is realized with an abundance of flowing flowers and leaves. The floral composition has vibrant colors and an extreme exuberance and skills in assembling different flowers, gathered in a bunch, alternating thick yellow carnations, with striped red and white tulips, with delicate roses of a thousand shades of pink, contrasting with the celestial background.
