Early 19th century Empire mirror, a solid walnut rectangular frame decorated with a gilt plaster profile, a gilt gesso internal frame decorated with palmette, centered by an original mercury mirror. French origin.
Two lateral holes let us know this item was part of a table tilting mirror, a French Empire table psyche.
Can be hanged in both directions, horizontally too.
Good conditions except two minor gilding losses in the gesso frame.
It comes from a Milanese private palazzo.

Our offers
Italian antique ivory color painted and giltwood mirror, dating back to early 19th century. This elegant Neoclassical overmantel mirror is decorated with giltwood floral and vegetal ornaments and two columns, fluted and decorated with golden masks and elements. Good age related condition, with later ivory painting and glass mirror.
Cembran pinewood frame and shaped cimasa are embellished with a deep carving, floral decorations, embellished with cherub heads, flanked by six winged putti masks, leaves and scrolls descending on the sides, supported by two angels, cornucopia with memento and crowns at the base. The lateral carving is enriched by further putti heads within scrolls, while the lower part of this antique mirror is adorned with vegetal motifs. The frame has an horizontal structure, centered by a modern mirror measuring 40 cm x 60 cm. The work comes from a private residence in Milan and it is in good condition, wear consistent with age and use, a minor missing leaf of the left lower part.
