20th Century Italian Florentine Commesso Marquetry Panel Depicting Florence Cathedral
A mid-20th century Italian pietra dura inlaid plaque, a Florentine commesso depicting a view of Florence with the Cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, in good condition dating in the back 1955.
This Italian artwork is a mosaic panel, with marquetry technique which uses highly polished, hand-cut colored semiprecious stones,which are inlay-ed with one another to create a gorgeous picture, using the natural colours of the different stones and marbles, see how beautiful is the blue jade used for the sky. The stones used are exceptionally polished and include Siena marble, Bardiglio and black Belgian marble, Breccia, Blue jade, malachite, paesina and many other stones.
This inlaid plaque comes from a private collection of Milan.
