19th Century Napoleon III Inlaid Walnut Ormolu Mounted Portico Clock
An elegant tall table, mantle clock, it’s a French work with inlaid vegetal and geometric details and gilded bronze elements.
It dates back to the Napoleon III period, 1870 circa, of French origin.
The walnut case has delicate scrolling medallions of inlaid boxwood arabesque patterns on both bottom and top. There are four inlaid tapered columns. They have a base and crown of gilt cast bronze ornamental motifs and ormolu mounted elements of extreme high quality chasing.
There is a decorative wooden molding just above the bottom inlay panel, in a wide rib pattern with mitered corners. This molding is repeated between the two top inlay panels.
The circular porcelain display shows a minimal lower felure, with winding mechanisms for the alarm and movement. There are enamel blue Roman numerals. striking hours and half hours, 7 -10 days charging time
In good condition and working order. The clock measures: 47,5 centimeters Height x 24,5 width x 13,5 depth.
