An exceptional Italian Genoese walnut veneered and inlaid fall front bureau dating back to the second half of 18th century, of Genoese origin.
The fall opening to a fitted interior of six small drawers, pigeon holes and one central small door with an engraving.
The waving front of this antique Italian cabinet shows two short, small and convex drawers above two long and deep drawers; the scalloped lower front is part of the lower drawer. The whole raised on cabriolet feet.
The veneer is placed obliquely, in a herringbone pattern, within jutting frames and makes this antique Italian bureau very elegant. It comes from a private house in Milan.
Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses of veneering and defects.
UNDER RESTORATION NOW: we are going to replace missing veneer, flattening ridges of buckled, warped veneer and finishing this elegant bureau with a French polishing, a wood finishing technique that results in a very high gloss surface.

Two drawers, front, sides and top a finely throughout decorated with veneered burl thuya and walnut, boxwood, ebony and fruit wood inlays on cabriolet legs.
It comes from a private collection of Milan and showed signs and wear of previous use, losses and minor detachments of veneer, see last listed pictures previous restoration, that's why we decided to start a conservative restoration of this antique chest of drawer. The new shellac gommalacca polish enhances this wonderful marquetry.
A fine late 18th-century Louis XVI chest of drawers, an Italian marquetry commode veneered throughout in superlative timbers, including rosewood, fruitwood, boxwood, ebony. Three graduated long drawers, each with parquetry inlaid perimeters, veneered throughout in superlative timbers, including walnut, rosewood, maple, fruitwood, boxwood, ebony. Both sides, front and top are decorated with an upper band of inlaid festoons with bouquet of different flowers an with superlative fielded, figural and architectural panels, depicting a round medallion with birds on the top ; a muse with a lyre surrounded by an angel on the front and architectural elements are the inlaid motivs of the sides. This antique chest of drawers raised on tapering pyramidal inlaid feet, is in good age related condition.
This antique chest of drawers comes from an exclusive private Milanese palazzo and shows many signs of its history of 250 years, see closed-up details, top showed slight curvatures, overall minor veneer losses and detachments, it has been restored and polished with gommalacca shellac, it is now in good condition, consistent with age and use.
