18th Century Italian Giltwood Mirror with Mercury Plate
18th Century Italian Giltwood Mirror with Mercury Glass, a shaped antique mirror with lovely hand-carving with floral, vegetal and scrolling motifs, topped by a central shell in the upper part of the frame.
Original gold-leaf gilding of 18th century, it comes from a Milanese collection and it is in good condition, wear consistent with age and use.
This antique mirror shows many old worm holes, therefore it has been promptly treated and holes will be soon covered up.

Cembran pinewood frame and shaped cimasa are embellished with a deep carving, floral decorations, embellished with cherub heads, flanked by six winged putti masks, leaves and scrolls descending on the sides, supported by two angels, cornucopia with memento and crowns at the base. The lateral carving is enriched by further putti heads within scrolls, while the lower part of this antique mirror is adorned with vegetal motifs. The frame has an horizontal structure, centered by a modern mirror measuring 40 cm x 60 cm. The work comes from a private residence in Milan and it is in good condition, wear consistent with age and use, a minor missing leaf of the left lower part.
